Notes for Raymond Earl SHANKS
Raymond was cremated after his death according to his wishes. His service was held in Humboldt Redwood State Park near Weott, CA by his children and friends on 2 July 1990. He served a mission as a young man in the California bay area, he was the youngest member of the Tabernacle Choir & made the first tour of the Choir to Europe. He served in the military, including a tour of duty in Japan. He was a talented musician, sang in numerous stage plays with notable stars such as Jane Powell & others. He perfomed in Camelot, Annie Get Your Gun and various others in California. He sang at many funeral services including those of both of his parents and his grandfather Thomas Jefferson Lemmons. He was also an accomplished artist sculpting many of the Tolkien figures such as the mythial horse, Shadowfax. He attended numerous universities and held several degrees. He attended Carnegie Institute of Technology, University of Utah and others. He was the architect for the Alamagordo LDS chapel. As noted above, he was a very gifted man in whom the Lord had entrusted many talents.
